We have the following roles available for our 2024/2025 season for customer focused superstars! Some staff will be required to start with us on Thursday 5 September 2023 for induction, training, and set-up ready for opening 11 September. Some roles have a flexible start date to cover us for the peak of the season too.

So, if you meet the below requirements for the specific role you are after, and want to apply or seek more information, then get in contact on office@lochmaralodge.co.nz with your CV and cover letter outlining your applicable experience.

Café/Restaurant

We know you will have the pick of roles now if this is your passion. However, none will offer you the idyllic location we do to work in! So, go on, check us out!

We are open seven days per week for our full season. Some of these roles will be required to live on site, some to commute from Picton each shift – 20 min free boat ride on the Lochmara scheduled water transfer. You will work to a roster with rostered time off each week.

For the Chef roles we will be looking for the required applicable qualifications or equivalent experience. For the Front of House roles, we will be wanting strong barista, bar, and customer service focused superstars. The roles we wish to fill are:

  • Head Chef
  • Sous Chef
  • Senior Chef
  • Kitchenhand
  • Front of House staff for morning, day and/or dinner service

Wildlife Staff

With probably the most fun job title, we want you if you have (at minimum) a qualification in animal husbandry. We also need staff with a zoology, and/or marine biology degree, and an outgoing personality where you are passionate to educate our guests.

Part of this team’s role is to run our daily underwater observatory and animal feeding tours. You will also be responsible for the care of the wildlife both land and marine, as well as ensuring our record keeping is maintained, enclosures are clean and tidy, and general wildlife care and maintenance is completed including our predator control programme.

Sound like you? If you’re wild enough to apply and fulfil this job title, we’d love to hear from you!

Grounds/Maintenance Team

Do you want to come and play on 11 acres in an idyllic location? Then this just may be the role for you!

We’re after a Gardner and Maintenance team member to join our Grounds/Maintenance team to focus on our garden’s flora and fauna, and general maintenance upkeep required for our property. It is important to us to have a high standard of tidiness across our grounds showing they are well maintained and looked after.

You will work five days per week and between 25 and 35 hours per week – we are flexible to work in with your wishes. We will bring you to work daily on our Lochmara water transfer direct from Picton and taking only 20 minutes. If you are a handy person, this will be a big advantage. You must be fit and healthy to cope with the 11 acres of hilly grounds to maintain and applicable heavy lifting that can go with gardening where required.

Sound like your ideal job? Then get in touch with us now!
