Licensed

café & restaurant

We have a fully licensed café and restaurant to cater to all our guests needs. Our menus incorporate a variety of dietary and budgetary options, so you’re sure to find a dish you’ll enjoy. Guests can either choose to dine in the restaurant, on the open deck outside, or by special arrangement in the privacy of their own room.

We strive to make our dining experience accessible to those with allergies. Please advise of your requirements at the time of your booking.

Gift shop

& info desk

Our friendly staff are available onsite in reception from 8.00am – 5.00pm seven days per week. Advice and a free booking service is available for a range of fantastic activities in Lochmara and the Marlborough Sounds.

Forgot something on your travels? Our gift shop keeps a great range of supplies in stock for those last-minute purchases. From souvenirs, t-shirts, and hats to art and jewellery, we’ve got all your shopping needs covered.

Beach

& water equipment

Guests staying overnight at Lochmara are welcome to use our kayaks and stand-up paddle boards free of charge. After a safety briefing at check-in, you’ll be given access to our boatshed, where you’ll find a range of equipment including mandatory life jackets.

Beach towels are available on request free of charge for our in-house guests. Day guests can hire beach towels from the gift shop, subject to availability.

Guest

laundry

Freshen up your gear during your stay in our fully equipped guest laundry. We provide access to a washing machine and clothes dryer, available for guests to use. Both machines require a $2 coin to operate. If you don’t have cash available, we can help with this at reception.

Guests are also able to purchase plant-based Eco Store laundry detergent from reception. Drying racks are available on request.

Water transfer

& moorings

Most guests arrive via our dedicated Lochmara Water Transfer service, with three scheduled departures per day from Picton. However, you are also welcome to visit by private boat.

Mooring is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you’re just stopping by for a few hours to enjoy our facilities, there is no fee. Guests staying overnight in our accommodation, can also moor free of charge. If you wish to moor overnight without staying in our accommodation, there is a nightly fee of $50 during peak season, or $30 off-peak. However, if you dine in our restaurant for dinner (subject to availability), the overnight mooring fee is waived.

Jet ski overnight mooring is free of charge. We have jet ski parking and will collect you on our tender.

Internet

& phone

Stay connected with our reliable internet and phone services. Whether you want to check in with family back home, share your snaps on social media, or simply catch up on your favourite Netflix series, we’ve got you covered.

Please note that while free WiFi is provided, it can be a little slow at times, so we recommend downloading content to your device before you arrive.

A real highlight of the QC track and our honeymoon! Welcoming us off the boat, beautiful clean room with the best view, 11/10 food, fantastic service, amazing quirky and clean animal park, his and her bathtubs were a real treat, a truly special part of the sounds that could pass as a tropical island.

An absolute gem in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. After a 20 minute cruise from Picton, you step off the boat into another world, so lovely and peaceful.Relax in one of the hammocks with a book, take a leisurely kayak around the bay, explore the tracks through native bush or join the amazing Wildlife Team for an animal tour.

This is a magical place, where you can get away from the pace of life and enjoy relaxing and watching the world go by. There are lovely walks and lots of interesting little nooks and crannies to explore. The staff are friendly and helpful. We loved our visit - thank you!!
