No road Access
You can not drive to Lochmara. We are reached by water taxi from Picton in our Lochmara water taxi located on the town wharf on the corner of London Quay and Wellington Street.

WiFi
Wireless internet is available free for our in-house guests. Please Note: Given our remote location WiFi isn't always strong or fast.
Underwater Observatory
Guided tours are at 10.10am, 11.00am, 12.50pm and 2.45pm

Payment Facilities:
EFTPOS, including Paywave is available. We also accept payment by all credit cards.
Wheelchair Access:
As wheelchair access is difficult. Please Contact Us if you need more information.
Prams / Strollers:
Although it is possible to visit Lochmara with a stroller, access is tricky in some areas. Backpacks are an easier option.
No dogs allowed
Dogs and other pets are not allowed at Lochmara to keep us aligned with the Department of Conservation (DOC) policy. You may see the lodge owners dog about, but he is there as a special privilage only.
Lochmara is not a Picnic destination:
With a licensed restaurant on site, we are not a picnic venue. We appreciate your custom.
What to wear:
We suggest you bring insect repellent, sun block, sun glasses and a sun hat as New Zealand sun can be quite strong. Also bring you your swimsuit and towel if you'd like to swim at our beach. Bring casual shoes suitable for short walks if you are planning a day trip, more sturdy shoes if you are hiking the Queen Charlotte Track. Pack your camera and a light rain jacket if the forecast if for rain. View our local weather report HERE.
Hiking in from the Queen Charlotte Track
There is a well maintained 3.5km side path down into Lochmara from the track, at the same standard as the Queen Charlotte Track.
Moorings for Boats and Jet skis
A limited number of moorings are available for visitors with their own boat (we monitor VHF channel 63) with a charge of $35 overnight, $50 during peak season 1 December to 29 February each year. Overnight charge is waived if dining in our restaurant for dinner, noting bookings are essential. We also have a jet ski parking area. Kayakers also welcome too.
